I have been a registered Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) teacher since 1990.  I have worked for professional schools/studios in addition to owning and operating my own studio for over 20 years where I have enjoyed working with students of all ages (including adults).  Seeing the smiles and pleasure that all ages take in musical experiences is deeply satisfying. 

I earned a Teaching Certificate for KinderMusic from York University and currently offer a fun and engaging KinderBach Piano Preschool Program. 

William Congreve (an English playwright and poet 1670 – 1729) wrote, "Music has charms to soothe the savage breast."  Music means many things to many people and is for everyone.  Each of us has the potential to experience the joy of picking up an instrument at any age.  I believe a teacher's objective is to have the students achieve their objective.  I strive to adapt my teaching to each student, not all of whom hope to become professional pianists.  I have students who just want to learn to play for their own pleasure, at their own pace; they have no intention of taking exams or playing in public.  If they happen to go through a busy time and are not as prepared as they could be, so be it.  We go from there, and I attempt to find new methods or approaches to re-inspire them.  I find that this attitude goes a long way toward making the lesson experience relaxed and enjoyable for the student.

There are “arrogant” instructors out there with the viewpoint, "Two consecutive unprepared lessons is cause for dismissal; extracurricular school activities are not justification for excusing lessons", but you will not find that here.  I am flexible in scheduling and accommodate the individual needs and learning style of each student and will teach recreational, RCM, and classical – you let me know your preference.  My goal is to make learning the piano fun!
